Chris was born in a sod house in Grainfield, Gove Co, KA. He grew up on farm and completed 8 years of school. He met Anne at a party and married 16 March 1910 in her Home in Holland. In 1910 they used horse and wagon to move kitchen stove, table, 2 chairs, and bed to a rented 40 aces in Baltimore Twp, Barry Co, MI, where Lilian was born. They then moved to a rented 120 acre farm near Dowling where Evelyn and Meldred were born. In 1915 they bought 120 acre farm near Vermontville, Eaton Co, MI where Hazel and Lucile were born. Chris died from injuries received when a horse trampled him in his barn. He was a farmer that boarded pregnet mares in winter to collect urine for the Upjohn Drug Company. They used the urine in making drugs in WW2. His 84 year old father Alfred, helped get the horse off of him.
