Lillian Margaret Killebrew Wrinkle, 92, of Cleveland, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in a local healthcare facility. She was born in Knoxville, TN on November 8, 1920. She was the daughter of the late John Henry and Charity Phillips King.
Lillian graduated from Polk County High School in 1939 in Benton, TN; National School of Business in 1941 in Cleveland, TN; Business School for Federal Civil Service Employees in Atlanta, GA; and Manpower Development Training Administration in 1972 in Cleveland, TN. She also attended Cleveland State Community College.
She taught English and math at Arckville CCC Camp under the auspices of the National Youth Administration, an agency created by President Franklin Roosevelt. She was a secretary at the Pentagon for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS-forerunner of the CIA) in the War (Defense) Department in Washington, DC. She was a secretary at Polk County High School from 1957-1963 and was also a substitute teacher at Bradley Central High School. Mrs. Wrinkle retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Education Vocational Rehabilitation Services after eighteen years then again substituted at Bradley Central High School for twenty years.
Mrs. Wrinkle was preceded in death by her husbands, James Calvin Killebrew, Sr., and Hager Wrinkle; son, John Hawkins Killebrew; grandchildren, Ricky and Michael Green; great-grandson, Aidan Berg; brothers: Hoyt, Raymond and Leonard King; sisters: Jewel King, Esther Gadd, Reba Ellwood and Mildred Holloway.
She is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Killebrew Green and her children, Debra Disney (great-grandchildren, Samantha Vaughn, [great-great-grandchildren, Kimberly, Dakota, Tatum, and Layla Vaughn] and Martisha Willis) and Scott Green (great-grandson, Marshall Green]; son, James Calvin and wife, Lisa (Son Cha) Killebrew and their children, Aaron Chai and wife, Tammy Killebrew, (great-grandchildren, Ashleigh and Austin Killebrew) and David Chai Killebrew; daughter, Margaret Ann Killebrew and her children, Tiffany and husband, Jimmy Gibby (great-grandchildren, Sophia and John [Jack] Gibby), Lanie Ray Novene (great-grandchildren Lee and Laisia Novene) and Megan Lee Jones; daughter, Susan Killebrew Bohne and husband, Bob Bohne, and her daughter, Jessica Berg and husband, Eric Berg (great-grandson, Ethan Berg and great-granddaughter, Adelynne Berg); step- grandson, Michael Palmer; special sisters-in-law, Jane Wrinkle Cooke, Erma Lee King and Louise Guffy; a special friend and surrogate son, Dr. Paul Mortarelli; and extended Killebrew family in North Carolina, Washington DC, Maryland and elsewhere.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 in the chapel of Ralph Buckner Funeral Home with Reverend Jim Parm officiating. Interment will follow in Benton Memorial Gardens with a white dove release ceremony concluding the service.
Her family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012, at the funeral home.
