Born Dec. 13, 1926, in Butler she was the daughter of Hugh and Mary Texter Young.
She was a Catholic.
Surviving are four daughters, Helen Lear of Slippery Rock, Gloria J. Thoma and her husband, Regis V., of East Butler and Anna M. Zang and her husband, Tom, and Grace E. Hockenberry and her husband, Leonard, all of Butler; 14 grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren.
Her husband, William L. Hempfling, whom she married Feb. 22, 1945, died in October 1991. She also was preceded in death by a brother; three sisters; a daughter, W. Chylene Peterman, and four grandchildren.
HEMPFLING - There will be no visitation. Cremation for Grace E. Hempfling, who died Friday, Jan. 18, 2008, was at the John Flynn Funeral Home & Crematory, Hermitage. Burial will be at the Mt. Chestnut Cemetery.
