TISHOMINGO, MS. – Daryl Myer Mitchell, 66, died Thursday, December 6, 2012 at his residence. He was born July 23, 1946 in Pulaski, Va. and was a truck driver for 48 years. He was a member of Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Rienzi, Ms. and was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, December 10, at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church, Rienzi, Ms. with Bro. Gabe Jolly III officiating. Burial will be in New Lebanon Cemetery, Cairo, Ms. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Ms. will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors are his wife – Brenda Mitchell, Tishomingo, Ms.; four children – Tabatha Bryant (Scott), Butch Mitchell, Tonya Long (Dickey) and Jamie Deaton (Shonda); his mother – Pearl Whitt, Pulaski, Va.; two brothers – Boyd Mitchell (Barbara) Rugby, Tn., Jim Whitt (Tammy) Pulaski, Va.; two sisters – Lisa Friend (Carlos) and Ramona Willis, all of Pulaski, Va.; mother-in-law – Dimple Pirtle, Cairo, Ms.; brother-in-law – Terry Pirtle; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and his caregivers – Misty Glidewell and Michelle Bolton.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Linda Mitchell, a son, Eddie Mitchell, his mother, Dorothy Whitt and a brother, Elwood Mitchell.

Pallbearers will be Jeff Atkinson, Tony Garrard, Hunter Garrard and Randy White. Honorary pallbearers will be Jonathan Slack and Dewey Corkren.

Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Sunday, December 9, at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, Ms. and he will lie in state 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Monday at Hopewell Missionary Baptist Church.
