(Many thanks to find-a-grave user Patricia F. for the above information!)
NOTE ON BIRTH DATE: According to Kate Kellerman (daughter-in-law), Mollie BAKER was born in 1859 in Texas on the Rio Grande. Other family papers say the Sabin River. (There was a small settlement in Burleson county, Texas, called Sabine Creek... perhaps this is where her family lived?) According to Kate's son Bud Rehart, Mollie Baker was born July 17, 1860. Her death certificate, with information provided by her daughter Anna Scott, lists her birth date as July 17, 1861, but also says that she has been a resident of California for 82 years (death date Jan 1942), indicating a possible birth year of 1859. Her marriage license also supports the year 1859; it is dated June 23, 1875, and gives her age as 15 years. However, the 1860 federal census for Caldwell, Burleson, Texas, dated July 28, 1860, does not show a Mary Ann Baker at all, only her parents and two older brothers Henry and James, ages 3 and 1. Possibly this is because she was not born by June 1st? She was supposed to have been 4 years old when the family came out to California, and this took place between May 1865-Jan 1866.
