Wife of Rev. David Clever Garrison.

When looking for the parents of Helen Garrison, go to Spring Grove Cemetery, Hamilton Co. OH and visit the Emory McKendree Garrison plot; there is an unmarked grave for Helen's parents, David & Sarah Fisher of Penn. Realize that the old records show that Rev. David Clever Garrison, later of Forest, OH was the prior owner of this same family burial plot, so this is why his inlaws are there in his half brother's (Emory) plot. The Fishers' unmarked, blank graves lack a flat stone marker so hopefully a descendant will one day buy a flat marker for the Fisher's. One guess is that the original monument in the Emory McKendree Garrison plot, read Fisher or ___, and perhaps it was to be replaced with one which read Garrison -- and this never was done.

The Spring Grove burial card tells us that Sarah Fisher was born in Pennsly. with her maiden name, Sarah Graham. Sarah Graham Fisher died at age 74, with John W. Fisher being the informant. David Fisher was born in Scotland, to parents, an elder David Fisher and Anna _____, and lived a long life, 96 yrs old, as per his burial card. This is the plot to where I removed the abandoned, discarded slant face marker for Rev. Isaac Clever Garrison, 2nd wife Mary Moore Garrison, to be the center monument, since there was none. No reimbursements were ever received for the considerable expenses, et al for this massive project.

In my files I find an old 2006 email, where I referenced descendants looking for the Forest, OH burial plot. So the Waldren, Carter, and Weeks families should add links to this entry. I wrote then that the cemetery was near the northwest corner of CR185 and CR2, two miles west of the city of Forest, OH; it was established in 1831, Jackson Twp, Hardin Co.,OH.

2016 Update: Different Mother Proposed for Helen Fisher Garrison

Thanks to findagraver, JDM (#47010526) for sending further info. JDM wrote:"These are the Ancestry records of the marriages of David Fisher....

Scotland Select Marriages in Paisley, Scotland on Nov. 15, 1822 David Fisher married Ann Wisheart.

Indiana Marriages to 1850 in Ohio County, Indiana on March 26, 1849 David Fisher married Sarah Graham.

The correct Findagrave link for Helen Fisher's mother would be # 51156763." That link - Find A Grave Memorial# 51156763 - points to Ann Fisher, b. 3 Apr 1803, Paisley Scotland, d. 14 Feb 1848, buried at Union Cem, Rising Sun, Ohio Co, IN.

Further proof is probably needed to switch her mother, since David Fisher's father was also named David Fisher, and he was to have married an Anna Wishart (precise spelling not recalled). I do not know what records exist in Indiana but Rising Sun is vaguely recalled as the correct town. I see 3 David Fisher's at Union Cem., Rising Sun.

Sadly, when trying to contact Helen's descendants, I find that we lost a great one in 2015... Col. James Isaac Wheeler of Tuscon, Ariz., findagrave #151326099. Please bless him for his service. He kindly used to write with me to try to explain his side of the family...

Thanks to all for the help with adding further info to this Fisher/Garrison line. I have gone ahead and made the change to Ann Wishart Fisher as being the mother of Helen Fisher Garrison--so it is a small leap of faith, that Ann Wishart married the younger David Fisher, rather than his father of the same name...But corrections welcome just in case!
