Jacobus Smith Schoonmaker (1/17/1809-12/6/1866) married Rachel J. Schoonmaker (3/14/1810-7/6/1892).

Their children were: Elijah R. Schoonmaker (1830/1842-1909), Charles V. Schoonmaker (1833-) Catherine M. Schoonmaker (1831-), William H. Schoonmaker (1836-), Charlotte J. Schoonmaker (1842-), Richard P. Schooner (1846-), Caroline Schoonmaker (1847-), James Schoonmaker (1858-),
Margaret Schoonmaker (1860-) and Anna Schoonmaker (1860-).

Jacobus came to this country in the service of the Dutch West India Company. He recieved a large grant for land in Ulster County, NY.
