Mrs. Adele D. Van Wagenen, 79, died Friday evening at her home, 3 Church Street, New Paltz. She was the widow of William Van Wagnenen who died in 1959.
The former Miss Adele Duryee, Born in Bayonne, N.J., Sept. 24, 1881, a daughter of the late Edward and Mary Blakelock Duryee Van Wagenen [sic], she graduated from the New Paltz Normal School and taught in Yonkers and Poughkeepsie schools. She made her home in New Paltz the last 10 years and was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church of New Paltz.
Surviving are a son, Harold Van Wagenen, Brecksville, Ohio; a daughter, Lois Van Wagenen, of Yonkers; a brother, Dudley Duryee, Deer Park, L.I.; a sister, Mrs. Stanley Osborne, Lindenhurst, L.I.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at the Pine Funeral Home Inc., New Paltz, Monday at 2 o'clock with the Rev. Dudley Bennett, rector of St. Andrew's Episcopal church officiating. Burial will be in the New Paltz Rural cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday afternoon and evening.
