Charles O. Olson, 69, Minot, died Saturday, December 8, 2012 in a Minot hospital.

Charles was born August 2, 1943 in Minot, ND to Charles E. and Olive Marie (Hanson) Olson. Chuck "Cuppy" as he was nicknamed, went to live with his mother's parents in 1945 because his father was stationed in the London area during WWII and his mother passed away. He continued to live with his grandparents whom he loved with all his heart until they had passed away. He grew up in the Minot area and attended Longfellow Grade School and graduated from Minot High School in 1961. His grandmother passed away when he was a young boy and his grandfather passed away in early 1961.

While in high school, he became a blood-brother to Bill Pedersen and soon was welcomed into the Pedersen family as one of their own. Mrs. Pedersen always said, "Cuppy will marry one of my girls even if he has to wait for baby Judy to grow up," but she did approve when he married one of their friends..

Charles married Geraldine "Geri" Vise on May 17, 1964, and because these two people fell in love, the union was blessed with four sons, Todd in 1965, Rich in 1967, Nick in 1980, and Joe in 1983. He was always proud of his four sons and later that pride extended to their wives and his ten wonderful grandchildren. Geri always believed that God joined them and they were blessed with a special bond.

Chuck was one who felt very deeply about the people he cared about. He was always close to his cousins, family members and friends. When they hurt he hurt. If they cried, he cried with them. He was very special…he always believed that Christ was his bridge over the troubled sea of the world.

Those who shared in his life and dreams were, His wife, Geri, Minot; sons, Todd (Sarah) Olson, Rich (Tammy) Olson and Joe Olson and his companion, Amber Uskiewicz, all of Minot; grandchildren, Cassie, Devin, Elizabeth, Kiersten, Mya, Tyler, Zackary, Jeric, Autumn and Cheyenne, all of Minot; step-mother, Evelyn Olson; sisters, Ruth (Michael) Odden and Joyce Olson, all of Holdingford, MN, and Dorothy Olson, Peoria, AZ; brothers, Don (Sandee), New Richman, OH, Ron (Tayrce), Upham, ND, Pete (Jan), El Mirage, AZ, and Robert of Seattle, WA; numerous nieces, nephews; his aunt, Lil Clementich, Minot; brothers-in-law, Rick (Linda) Vise and Allen (Yvonne) Vise, all of Minot, and many cousins.

Those who made an impact on Chuck's life and have preceded him in death are his son, Nick Olson; his father, Charles E. Olson and his mother Olive Olson; his grandparents, Helmer and Pauline Hanson; sister, Marion Geiser; nephew, Danny Geiser, blood brother, Bill Pedersen, sister, Arlene Pedersen; aunt, Helen Merkel; uncles, Ray, Holace, Ernie, Marlin and Leonard Hanson.

Visitation: Wednesday, one hour prior to the service in the church.

Burial: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, ND.
