Henry P. Fox was born on 12 December 1831 in New York to Peter Fox and Rachel Smith. He was baptized on 29 February 1832 at the Saddle River Lutheran Church in Saddle River, Bergen, New Jersey.
He met and married Cornelia Duryea on 14 August 1858 and their married was recorded in Pascack Dutch Reformed Church in Park Ridge, Bergen, New Jersey.
Henry was farmer by trade. This couple settled down and lived on South Airmont Road in what is today Airmont, Rockland, New York. The little town was called Masonicus.
Henry and his brother James were devised their father's homestead farm by will made on 9 November 1855, probated 14 January 1856 in Rockland County, New York. The homestead was divided on 11 November 1858, and Henry received a tract of 33.69 acres.
When Henry died, his will, dated 28 May 1900, left everything to his wife. She was living in Westwood, New Jersey when she sold the farm on 9 September 1905 to Albert H. Bierling for $3750.
