Jacob was son of John Henry Bottorff and Sophia Freiker. Jacob was married three times having a total of twenty children. His third wife was Sarah Ruddell who is also buried in Fairview Cemetery. There has been much squabble among family over where Jacob died and was buried. Two of his nephews went to their graves not speaking for over 30 years; because one believed Jacob had died in Louisville, Kentucky and was buried in Fairview Cemetery in Clark County, Indiana next to his second wife. The other believed he was buried in eastern Nebraska. The family Bible held the truth all along. It says Jacob died in Louisville (no state) and was buried in Fairview Cemetery (no state). Both brothers had half the story correct. Jacob may now rest in peace.
