Obituary--Mrs. Gregg Featherston

Mrs. Gregg (Mabel B.) Featherston, 79, who lived at 400 North Lynn Drive, died Monday morning at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of several months.

Mabel Dempster was born Jan. 21, 1890, at rural LeMars. She was a lifelong resident of the county and farmed with her husband before moving to LeMars in 1949. Mr. Featherston has been bailiff in district court, LeMars, until his recent retirement.

Her marriage to Gregg Featherston took place Dec. 29, 1915, in LeMars. Her parents were the late John and Phoebe Hodgson Dempster.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Mauer funeral chapel. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate and burial will be in LeMars memorial cemetery. A prayer service will be held at the funeral home at 8:45 p.m. Tuesday.

Mrs. Featherston was a member of the First United Methodist church in LeMars, Garfield chapter, OES, and past matron of the Kingsley and LeMars OES.

Survivors are her husband, Gregg, LeMars; children, Lauren and Virginia Featherston, Peoria, Ill., Gerald and Nina Featherston, rural Kingsley, and Philip and Celesta Krieg, rural Kingsley; there are nine grandchildren, four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Reeves and Mrs. Bertha Tucker, both of LeMars, and Mrs. Laura Featherston, Oak Park, Ill., and Mrs. Marion Kiest, Spring City, Tenn.

She was preceded in death by her parents, five brothers and two sisters.
