Obituary--Laura Featherston

Mrs. Laura Jane Featherston, 77 (error--79), a LeMars native who had made her home the last six years at Brentwood Good Samaritan center, LeMars, died Saturday (April 17, 1976) at Brentwood after a long illness.

Laura Jane Dempster was born May 28, 1898 (error--1896), in LeMars to John and Phoebe Hodgson Dempster.

She lived in Oak Park, Ill., before moving to LeMars.

Mrs. Featherston was a member of the Presbyterian church. She was very active in the Red Cross during both world war 1 and world war 2. She was an active social worker in the Erie Neighborhood house, Northside, Chicago.

Her marriage to Elmer J. Featherston took place March 20, 1924, in LeMars.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1955 and by five brothers and four sisters.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Mauer funeral chapel, LeMars, with Rev. Ralph Nelson officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home.

Survivors are a son John R. Featherston of Los Gatos, Calif; two grandsons, Rex J. Featherston, Tucson, Ariz., and Gregory P. Featherston, Los Alamos, N. M.; two granddaughters, Judith Ann Featherston, Tucson, Ariz., and Laura Ellen Featherston, Los Alamos, N. M.; two sisters, Mrs. Charles Tucker, Storm Lake, and Mrs. Marion Kiest, living in Tennessee, and several nieces and nephews.
