Richard Wilson Brett grew up at 1052 Oakland Avenue in Akron, Ohio. He attended Findley Elementary School and graduated from North High School in June of 1933.

Richard was the son of Richard T. and Georgia Brett. He had one brother, Thomas, and two sisters, Marjorie and Barbara. He was married to Barbara L. Weimer.

Richard entered the military service on 12/23/1941 in the U.S. Army Air Forces. He was a Second Lieutenant in the 68th Observation Group, Service # 0-663125.

Richard was killed In Action 9 November 1942 over Casablanca, Morocco during the Allied invasion of the Algerian and Moroccan coasts. He was awarded the Purple Heart. Buried 16 March 1949 at Arlington National Cemetery Washington, D.C.
He was twenty-seven years old at the time of his death.
