Joseph Matus, 69, of Coal Center, died at 11:55 a.m., Monday, December 27, 2004, in UPMC-Presbyterian hospital, Pittsburgh.

He was born March 11, 1935, in Monongahela, a son of Charles and Mary Lengyel Matus.

Mr. Matus was a member of Nativity of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church, Monongahela, and Eagles and Independent clubs of Bentleyville.

He was a member of the former Russian and Slovak clubs in Monongahela.

He retired as a foreman from Maple Creek Mine.

Deceased are a son, Joseph Matus; five brothers, John, Charles, Pete, Metro and Andy Matus; and two sisters, Helen Balog and Mary Kopp.
