John married Arlene R. Ruthenberg on August 18, 1949. Arlene was born January 2, 1917 to Herman and Bertha (Wechsel) Ruthenberg. Bertha died when Arlene was three years old,
so she was actually reared by Herman's second wife Louise.
John practiced business law and was a professor of management at Depaul University in Chicago, Illinois. He was awarded emeritus status upon his retirement.
John and Arlene had been married for 51 years at the time of Arlene's death. John died October 12, 2007 in Western Springs, Illinois.
