Mrs. Delphine R. Willcox
Delphine R Willcox died suddenly at her home in the village of Smyrna, NY, Friday, May 14, 1926. Her death saddened a wide circle of friends who are deeply grieved by her loss. Mrs. Willcox was born at Plymouth, NY, April 5, 1856, the daughter of James Hervey and Angeline Roda Dimmick. On September 26, 1883 she married Arthur L Willcox, of Smyrna, and since then has resided in the town of Smyrna. Mrs. Willcox was an active member of the Baptist church here and was devoted to all its interests. She had a very kind and generous disposition and gave freely of her time and strength to every cause which she believed would better the community in which she lived. Funeral services were held from the home on Monday afternoon, May 17, her pastor, the Rev. Arthur L WIlliams officiating. Burial was at Sherburne West Hill cemetery. She is survived by her husband, Arthur L Willcox, a sister, Mrs. Charles T Brewer, and two nieces, Ethel A Brewer and Florence B McGowa, of Cooperstown, NY.

response to invitations about 75 persons assembled at the residence of Mr. J.H. Dimmick, in Plymouth [Chenango Co., NY], on the afternoon of September 26th, to witness the marriage of his daughter, Miss Delaphine, to Mr. Arthur L. Willcox of this town. At 2 o'clock the sound of the Wedding March, admirably executed by Miss Jessie Crain, daughter of the officiating clergyman, was heard, and the happy couple soon standing under a beautiful floral horseshoe, by Rev. J.S. Crain were made husband and wife. The bride was handsomely attired in wine colored silk and wore tan-colored gloves. Messrs. Will B. Willcox of Webster, and Charles T. Brewer of Cooperstown, acted as ushers. The presents were various and beautiful. Mr. and Mrs. Willcox were taken to Sherburne and left on the evening train for New York, visiting Niagara Falls, Cooperstown, and other places ere their return. [Sherburne News, Oct. 13, 1883]
