Daughter of Annie Mae Flemming. Wife of Lionel O'Dell Brooks.

Mrs. Brooks passed away peacefully on October 31st at her home surrounded by family and friends. She is rejoicing in heaven today with both her girls Phyllis Brooks Hunter and Shirley Brooks Speight and her loving husband of 63 years Lionel O'dell Brooks, all preceding her in death.
Left to cherish her memory are her grandchildren Candida Speight Askew (Brady), Danni Brooks Speight, Misty Hunter Peek (Philip) and Jonathan Brian Hunter (Kelly). Great grandchildren Chase and Cole Askew, Taylor and Mason Peek, Matthew and Caleb Hunter, and Kyah Brooks Speight. Sons in law Tommy Speight and Harold Hunter. Her special niece, who she raised from 18 months old, Nancy Sams Wilson and her children CJ and Stephanie. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to amazing friends and wonderful caregivers Joyce Reese and Gail Fleming.
Agnes was a native member of the Spring Creek community and spent her adult life in the home she loved on Bluff Mountain. She was a dedicated and lifelong member at Zion Missionary Baptist Church. She enjoyed spending time at community events while supporting her children and grandchildren.
In her early years she worked 3rd shift at Burlington in Hot Springs. She also helped her husband and children on the farm where they raised tomatoes, tobacco, livestock, and a huge beautiful garden that would feed the entire Bluff community. Agnes took great pride in canning her green beans, tomatoes, spaghetti sauce, and homemade strawberry & grape jelly. She enjoyed having help from her children and grandchildren, but you better get all the specks off the green beans! Everyone that came to help on the farm always had a hot, homemade meal to enjoy for lunch.
Later in life she loved to sit on the porch and chat with family and friends. She often told stories about her working days and stories of her girls. Agnes loved everyone, and you could feel it when she smiled at you. She will be missed and loved forever.
A graveside visitation and service will begin at 3:00 pm at Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery on Tuesday, November 2nd with Pastor Frank Willett officiating. Pallbearers will be Jonathan Hunter, Brady and Chase Askew, Richard Reese, Philip Peek and CJ Wilson.
