Levi was born in Christian Co., Kentucky to John and his wife Martha Ann "Patsy" Wood. Levi lived a full and adventurous life.

Levi's maternal grandparents were Bartholomew and Martha Ann "Patsy" (Tadlock) Wood. Bartholomew was the settler upon the site that is now Hopkinsville, Kentucky.

28 March 1839, Polk Co., Missouri - Levi married Sarah Jane "Sary" Lindley, daughter of Judge Jacob Marion & Alcey Ruth (Gibson) Lindley.

1850 - Census; Residence, District 8, Hopkins, TX; occupation - Farmer

According to "Early Days in Hopkins County, Texas" by D. A. Sturdivant: "The first effort at Peerless (Texas), which then went by the name Lindley* neighborhood was started in a tent on Caney about two miles south of Peerless, by old man Levi Millhollon."
(*named after Levi's wife's brother, Eli Lindley)

In 1854-5, Levi was Captain of a Wagon Train of 175 wagons going from Missouri to California. A story of this trip is told in Jan 1928 "Frontier Times" magazine. It tells of the wagon train meeting up with Native Americans, his daughter, Sydney, being run over by a wagon and other happenings on the trail.

15 Nov 1855 - Levi and his family were in California where daughter Alcy was born.

29 Sept 1856 - Arrival by ship "Illinois" in New York, NY from Aspinwall, Panama. Passenger List show: Levi - 48; wife, Sarah - 45; Jasper - 16, Sidney - 13, Newton - 12, Bat - 10, Ellen - 8, and Elsie -2 yrs.

8 Feb 1859 - After the death of his first wife, Sarah, Levi married widow, Emily (Posey) Bromley, in Hopkins Co., Texas.

31 Aug 1869 - Hopkins County; on Texas 1867 Voters Registration

1870 - Census - Precinct 1, Hopkins Co., TX
