SHREVEPORT, LA- Services will be conducted at Centuries Funeral Home Chapel for Verlie Mae Smith, age 83, of Shreveport, LA on Monday, September 11, 2000 at 2 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Mark Sutton and Rev. John Harp, pastor and associate pastor of Brookwood Baptist Church where Mrs. Smith was a member. Interment to follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Mrs. Smith entered into rest on Saturday, September 9, 2000. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Rev. James Smith; one daughter, Patricia Ann Briggs of Tupelo, MS; four sons, Jim Smith and wife, Wanda of Shreveport, LA; Bill Smith and wife, Yvonne of West Monroe, LA; Bob Smith and wife, Barbara of Hattiesburg, MS and James H. Smith and wife, Judy of Morristown, TN. Mrs. Smith is also survived by one sister, Maude Hightower of Palmdale, CA; two brothers, Riley Faires of Lyons, GA and Tilmon Faires and wife, Mabel of Chattanooga, TN; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be the grandsons.
