Detroit-Joseph F. Allen Jr, 69, died peacefully at his home on December 5, 2012, in Detroit, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 20, 1943, in Norton, Massachusetts, the son of Joseph and Florence (Dorothy) Allen Sr. He graduated from Bristol County Agricultural High School in 1961 and received a degree in Accounting from Husson University in Bangor. He married Bette Worthington in 1963 and together raised their family. Joe enjoyed farming and discussing politics. He loved competitive bowling and horseshoe tournaments.

He is survived by his sons, Glenn Allen and wife Carrie Moulton of Oakland, California, Todd Allen and wife Margaret of Dixmont and Nathan Allen of Portland; grandchildren, Lillie, Carlton, Courtney, Benjamin and Olivia; his mother, Florence Allen; siblings, Walter and wife Debbie, Stuart, Joyce, Gary and Janice.

He was predeceased by his wife, Bette Allen; father, Joseph Allen Sr; and brother, Ronald.

A graveside service will be held at the Clement Cemetery, River Road in Detroit with the Rev. Andrew Gibson officiating. (Bangor daily News p[soted 12/6/2012)
