John Thomas Johnson was born at
Chillicothe, Ia., October 2, 1852, passed
into the beyond at Belleville, Kans.,
June 24, 1928 at 8:45 P. M.
In March, 1864, he moved with his
parents to Iowa. January 20, 1873
he was united in marriage to Luella
Logan at Attumwa, Ia. To this union
were born five children—two of
which died in infancy. The three living
children are Mrs. Matilda Washer
of Stillwater, Okla., Emery T. Johnson
of Courtland, Kans., and Russel Johnson
of Belleville, Kans. Mrs. Luelle
Logan Johnson, mother of the children
(mentioned) died January 9,
1900. In February 1888 he obeyed the
Gospel and he and Mrs. Johnson became
members of the Church of
Christ at Union Valley, Kans.
His passing was peaceful, his children
were all at his bedside when I
death ended his suffering.
On December 19, 1901 he was united
in marriage to Lizzie Glass, there
were no children to this union. John
Johnson as he was called by all who
knew him, was an honorable citizen,
devoted father and was loved by all
his neighbors who knew him best. Besides
his wife and children, three
grandchildren and two great grandchildren,
he leaves to morn his departure
three brothers and four sisters.

Christian church of this city, June 24,
conducted by the pastor, Rev. Robertson.
before a large audience of sympathizing
friends. The music was rendered by
a male quartette of Belleville.
