William R. Rodgers Jr., 88 a resident at Bridgewater Home, passed away December 6, 2012 in Bridgewater.

Mr. Rodgers was born August 24, 1924 in Rockingham County, to the late William Russell and Agnes Letitia Rodeffer Rodgers. He served our country in the United States Army during World War II, and owned and operated an Electrical Contracting business, which he started in the 1969. He retired in 1998.. He was a member of the Mt. Olive Brethren Church in Pineville, where he served as Lay Minister, Deacon and Sunday School Teacher.

On August 22, 1950, he married Ruth Marie Morris, who died on October 4, 1998. Besides his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters, Nell, Lavonne, Jane & Glenna.

Mr. Rodgers is survived by sons, William R. Rodgers III & wife, Tammie, Penn Laird, Carl L. Rodgers & wife, Amelia June, Elkton; a daughter, Celia Rodgers Miller, Elkton; a brother, Everette Rodgers, McGaheysville; a sister, Agnes Raines, Keezletown; three grandchildren, Carl Lee (C.L.) Rodgers, Jr & wife, Angelina Nicole, Justin Dane Rodgers, Charles West Glover.

The Rev. Frederick Miller will conduct the funeral service 2:00 pm Sunday, December 9, 2012 at the Mt. Olive Brethren Church in Pineville. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg.
