Lucy "Mama Lucy" Chavarria of Artesia died Monday (July 27, 1992) at her home. She was 68 years old.
Visitation will be at Our Lady of Grace in Artesia after 4 p.m. today with Rosary at 7 p.m., also at Our Lady of Grace.
Services will be at Our Lady of Grace at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. John Curran will officiate. Burial will be at San Marcos Cemetery, Artesia.
Pallbearers will be Raymond Chavez Jr., Candelario Ruiz, Dino Perez, Stevie Chavarria, Ely Chavarria and Michael Chavarria.
Chavarria moved to Artesia from Cloudcroft in 1939. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.
Survivors include Chavarria's stepmother, Felipa Nino of Visalia, Calif.; six sons, Adam Chavarria, Ishmael Chavarria, Freddie Chavarria, Jerry Chavarria, Nick Chavarria, all of Artesia, and David Chavarria of Kermit, Texas; three daughters, Henrietta Chavez of Carlsbad, and Eva Ruiz and Mary Perez, both of Artesia; two brothers, Susano Nino Jr. of Riverside, Calif., Margarito Nino of Visalia; one sister, Molly Recendez of Oceanside, Calif.; 25 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
