Mrs. D. W. Gaass died at her home, 503 East First Street, at 12:15 a. m. Tuesday, July 12, 1927, after a considerable period of ill health. Her age was 80 years, 10 months and 6 days. Funeral services are appointed for thiss afternoon, Thursday, at 2:30 o'clock at the home. Interment is at Oak-wood Cemetery. Mrs. Gaass was born in Holland and came with her parents to America when a child. They located first at Buffalo, N. Y., later moving to Pella. On September 3, 1867, deceased became the wife of D. W. Gaass, who survives her and to their eight children were born. One daughter, Ida Lucinda, died at the age of 18 years on January 10, 1900. The other children are Peter B. of Crookston, Minn., Edward F. Prairie City, Iowa, Arthur D. Sheboygan, Wis. , Henrietta F. W. Pella, Mrs. John B. Hamilton of Aberdeen, S. D., Mrs. G. W. Ryke, Otley, Iowa, and Mrs. George M. Miller, Bonaparte, Iowa. A brother, H. F. Johnson, also survives her.
