Mrs. Betty Ellis Is Now at Rest
Last rites for Mrs. W. H. Ellis, 72, who passed away last Friday were held Sunday afternoon from Springfield Methodist church with Rev. Maynard Van Dyke of Springfield officiating.
The death of Mrs. Ellis followed a brief illness. Several weeks ago she suffered a paralytic stroke from which she never recovered.
Betty Dallas Duff was born in Christian county, Illinois. April 8, 1854. At the age of 20, on Sept. 16, 1874, she was married to W. H. Ellis and three years later in January she came with her husband to Nebraska. In 1885 they moved to Springfield where she lived for the past 41 years. Of the ten children, 7 survive.
Mrs. Ellis was a devoted wife, a loving and kind mother. For 52 years she shared the successes and failures, joys and sorrows with her husband and family. As a neighbor she was loved and respected.
She is survived by her husband, W. H. Ellis; one son, Sgt. E. E. Ellis in San Antonio, Texas; six daughters, Mrs. E. Bolen and Mrs. Charles Bolen of Omaha; Mrs. William Beerline of Papillion; Mrs. T. W. Nicholson of Springfield; and Mrs. C. E. Miles of Billings, Montana; 18 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Three brothers, Willard, Finis and Everett Duff all of Mt. Auburn, Ill.
