Gary Wayne Gray, 48, of London, died Thursday, April 26, 2007, at Marymount Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was a highly respected husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was the owner and principal engineer of Gray Engineering and Design in London, a company he began in 1998 after 16 years of experience in the heavy timber industry. He was also was a well-known and respected property developer as president of Gray Developments, Inc. He served on the board of the London/Laurel County Chamber of Commerce as well as a member for the land acquisition committee of Marymount Medical Center. He is survived by Margaret G. Gray, his beloved wife of 26 years; his children, Tyler Wayne and Laura-Elizabeth Kellen Gray, of London; his parents, George and Ruth Gray of East Bernstadt; his sister, Linda Gail and husband Jerry Adams; and one nephew, Jeremy Adams, also of London. He also leaves behind a host of friends, family and employees who will miss his thoughtfulness, love of travel and his kind and humble spirit. He graduated from Laurel County High School in 1976, and from the University of Kentucky with a Bachelors of Civil Engineering in 1980. He was a lifelong Wildcat fan. He was widely known as an expert in heavy timber and the structural engineering industry, serving as a member of the Technical Advisory Committee of the American Institute of Timber Construction for the past 18 years. His high level of integrity, knowledge and expertise earned him unparalleled respect from his peers. A committed Christian, he was a member of First Baptist Church of East Bernstadt, where he served 17 years as a deacon, was assistant Sunday school teacher for the Young Men’s Sunday school class and taught R.A.’s. He participated in many other ministries and on various committees within the church. Visitation was Sunday, April 29, 2007, from 5 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be Monday, April 30, at 2 p.m. at the London Funeral Home. Interment will follow at the A.R. Dyche Memorial Park. Tim Earick, Mike Reed, Greg Reynolds, Barry Pennington, Earl Wayne Philpot and Rob Stansbury will serve as pallbearers. The Young Men’s Sunday school class of First Baptist will serve as honorary pallbearers. Contributions may be made to the Gary W. Gray Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church East Bernstadt, P.O.
