Born into slavery on the plantation of Fleming Moon. S/O Jack(Frank) & Nellie Brown. Had 1 sister Hannah and 3 brothers. During the war he went with the young recruits to Charlottesville to take care of the horses. After the war he came to Ohio where he worked on the B&O Railroad and in the mines.
