John was killed while working at a threshing machine. His foot slipped and he was
caught up in the fast moving belt and died from severe injuries. He enjoyed a good
reputation in the community being there when people needed him and offering
advice when called upon to do so.
His funeral was attended by many and the cortege was sid to be over a mile long.
He married Anne Sheridan Jan. 10, 1882. She was 25 and the daughter of James
Sheridan and Mary Ann Gaughan. John was 27.
