Alfred Wallace McManama, 83, of Lexington died Friday, Oct. 5, at Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born in Rockbridge County on March 14, 1907, the son of the late John W. McManama and Cora Chittum McManama. He was married to Willie Belle McManama.

He was a retired cab driver. Mr. McManama was a member of the Lauderdale A. R. Presbyterian Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons, Samuel McManama of Buena Vista, Michael McManama of Vienna and Curtis McManama of Culpeper; two daughters, Vickie Beale of Norfolk and Ruth Austin of CA; and a sister Margaret Southers of Buena Vista.

The Rev. Zeb Carson Williams conducted the funeral at Lauderdale A.R.P. Church on Monday, Oct.. 8 with burial following at Stonewall Jackson Cemetery. The family suggests that memorial tributes may be made to the Lexington Lifesaving and First Aid Crew.
