Virginia "Skeeter" McGehee Bramlett, 89, went peacefully to be with her heavenly Father on December 1, 2012. She was surrounded by her family.

She was an incredible blessing to all those who knew her, and made a lasting impression on all whose lives she touched.

Mrs. Bramlett was born in Greenville, MS, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Thomas McGehee.

She attended grammar school in Grenada, MS and returned to Greenville to graduate where she was elected Miss Greenville High. She graduated from Randolph-Macon Women's College in Lynchburg, VA (now known as Randolph College) where she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and President of the Student Government Association.

Following graduation, she was named "Miss Greenville" by the Chamber of Commerce and made her debut with the Greenville Debutante Club.

She returned to Greenville, and in 1947 she married Leon Crow Bramlett, Jr. Mr. Bramlett was serving in the Marine Corps and they lived in Quantico and Washington area before returning to Clarksdale where Mr. Bramlett had farming interests.

Mrs. Bramlett was active civically, as a former officer of the King's Daughters, member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and working for many years at the Clarksdale Care Station. Mrs. Bramlett was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church (PCA) for over 60 years.

She was President of the Women of the Church and was actively involved in Christian activities including community Bible study and as a Bible teacher in her church circles.

Survivors include her husband Leon Crow Bramlett, Jr., of Clarksdale; son Leon Crow Bramlett, III and wife Vanessa Genung Bramlett, of Dallas, TX; daughter Virginia Hartridge Bramlett, of Bowie, TX; grandchildren Scott Douglas Russell and wife Lisa Smithhart Russell of Black Mountain, NC; Virginia Russell Word and husband Sam Foster Word, III of Olive Branch, MS; Sabrina Estes and husband Jason Estes of Dallas; Jeremy Genung and wife Tiffany Genung of Dallas; and great-grandchildren Sallie Key Word, Lexus Estes, Brooke Allie Estes, Eli Genung, Nate Genung, Jeremy Genung, and Levi Genung.

She is preceded in death by her eldest daughter, Sallie Key Bramlett Russell. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarksdale. Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale is in charge of the arrangements.
