Mr. Rector was a member of the Pendleton American Legion, the Markleville AMVETS, and the Ovid Masonic Lodge, of which he was a Past Master, and a member of the Scottish Rite of Indianapolis. He was a member of the Madison County Funeral Directors Association, and was past president of the Ninth District Funeral Directors. He was also a member of the Markleville Brotherhood and Sisterhood.

His funeral was held at 2 pm, Monday, April 18, 1966 in the Valorous C. Rector funeral home, the day before his 61st birthday. The Rev. John K. Summers of Ovid Community Church officiated.
