Samantha Ann Elliott, dau. of Abraham & Margaret Prosser was born November 14, 1855, near Peoria co., Illinois and departed this life at her home near Dallas, Iowa, August 28, 1940, age 84 years, 9 months & 14 days. When a small child she came with her parents to Iowa and settled on a farm North of Pella. About 1870 the family moved to the Dallas community. - She was converted when 13 years of age and entered the Evangelic church. In the spring of 1874 the Evangelic church discontinued their services and she joined the Methodist Episcopal church. On September 5, 1875, she was united in marriage to Hamlin Elliott. To this union 11 children were born. Four children and her husband preceded her in death. With the exception of 10 yrs. (1887-97, which were spent in Cheyenne, now Deuel co., Nebraska) of their married life, Mr. & Mrs. Elliott lived on the same farm near Dallas. - She leaves to mourn her seven children; Mrs. Logan Rowland; Mrs. Ed Rutherford; Mrs. Cicero King; Mrs. Frank McAllister; Mrs. Gettis Gullion; Ed Elliott; also miss Thelma Elliott, a grandaughter who made her home with her grandparents since her birth, and who was thought of as one of the children. Besides these she leaves 15 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, 2 half-sisters, Mrs. Etta Campell and Mrs. Fannie Nolte of Burwell,[Ord] Neb. and one step-sister, Mrs. Lizzie Wilson of Des Moines.
