Henry Banta, father of E. Banta, Dr. Banta, and C.D. Banta of Calistoga, died at the residence of the latter January 28th, aged 83 years and 8 months.

He was a native of Kentucky, came to California in 1861 and located in Sutter county, where he resided until coming to Calistoga last fall. His health had been good for an aged person, but a few days ago he was stricken by paralysis and this resulted in death.

His wife died two years ago. They had been married the long period of sixty-five years.
