Elsie (Van Dusseldorp - In't Veld) Menning entered into eternal rest April 6, 2011. She was born April 11, 1914 in Pella, Iowa, the daughter of Gysbert and Johanna (Veldhuizen) Van Dusseldorp. Elsie grew up on the family farm northeast of Pella. She attended Flintridge country school through 8th grade, walking to school with her cousin or getting a ride in her father's horse drawn carriage when there was bad weather. She attended and graduated from Pella High School, driving her Model-T Ford. After graduation she started working at the Pella JC Penney store on Franklin Street. On June 21, 1934 Elsie married Arnold In't Veld and to this union three children were born, Judi, Marlene and Butch. She was a loving mother, devoted grandmother and spent much of her time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Elsie was employed at the Pella National Bank (currently US Bank) for twenty-six years. In 1977 she married Ralph Menning and retired from the bank to serve with Ralph at the Bussing Reformed Church in McKee, Kentucky. After their service in Kentucky they moved back to Pella.

Elsie loved to travel. With pride in her Dutch heritage she made several trips to the Netherlands visiting her extended family. She was active in her church teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and the ladies sextet. Elsie knitted, was an avid reader and loved watching the finches as they visited her bird feeder. She was a "people person", with an outgoing personality and a great sense of humor. Elsie was devoted to and loved her Lord and was a faithful servant.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Judi Dingeman; son in-law Ken Beck; stepchildren: Bruce, Mark and Roger Menning; sisters in-law: Martha Mac Donald and Laverne Van Duesseldorp, six grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren two great great grandchildren; seven step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, three grandchildren in-law and five great grandchildren in-law.
