Elsie was employed at the Pella National Bank (currently US Bank) for twenty-six years. In 1977 she married Ralph Menning and retired from the bank to serve with Ralph at the Bussing Reformed Church in McKee, Kentucky. After their service in Kentucky they moved back to Pella.
Elsie loved to travel. With pride in her Dutch heritage she made several trips to the Netherlands visiting her extended family.
