A memorial service will be held at a later date for John Edward Ellenburg, 55, of Portsmouth, Ohio. John passed away on June 11, 2012 at Southern Ohio Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 10, 1956 in Portsmouth, Ohio to his parents James Edward Ellenburg and Carol (Tolliver) Ellenburg.

John was a graduate of Waverly High School and received a B.A. in Natural Science with minors in Geography and History from Shawnee State Univ. John loved the outdoors and spent much of his time gardening, fishing, and hunting.

John was a member of the Sons of the American Legion. John is survived by his father, of South Salem, Oh., mother, of Chillicothe, Oh., two sisters and their husbands, Oh., and loving companion Rita of Portsmouth, Oh. John was preceded in death by his only brother, Harlan Leroy (Butch) Ellenburg.
