Melvin English
CLAYTON, Ga. - Virgil Melvin English, 78, of Route 2, husband of Edith Parker English, died Saturday at Rabun County Memorial Hospital.
Born in Rabun County, he was a son of the late Henry R. and Fannie Nichols English. He was a retired farmer, a member of Rabun County Farm Bureau and of the Presbyterian faith.
Surviving are widow; sons, Kenneth, Kay, and Keith English of Clayton; daughters, Mrs. Vera Turpin of Mountain City, Mrs. Vassie York, Mrs. Verdie Taylor and Mrs. Vernie Henry of Clayton; sisters, Mrs. Lessie Rogers and Mrs. Dessie Mae Park of Clayton; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren.
Services at 2 p.m. Monday at Hunter Funeral Home Chapel by layman Lloyd Hunter and the Rev. Charles Parrish. Burial in Persimmon Cemetery.
