Retha Mae Carr Blalock, 86, of Piney Flats, Tennessee, died Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at NHC Healthcare of Johnson City. She was born in Bluff City, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Noah F. and Lena Lilly Carr. She was a lifelong resident of Piney Flats, a retired cafeteria worker from the Sullivan County School System, and a member of Edgefield United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harry C. Blalock, and a daughter, Polly McKamey.
She is survived by a daughter, Sharon Carrier and her husband, William "Pete", of Piney Flats; a son-in-law, John McKamey of Piney Flats; sisters Ruth Hagaman and her husband Arthur of Bristol, Mollie Morgan of Bristol and Ethel Turner of Elizabethton; a brother, Claude Carr and his wife, Charlotte, of Bristol, Virginia; a special friend, Ruth Jones; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 o'clock Thursday evening, January 26, 2006, at Oakley-Cook Funeral Home or at any time at the home of Sharon Carrier. The funeral service will be conducted at 1 o'clock Friday afternoon, January 27, 2006, at the graveside in Shell Cemetery in Piney Flats with Pastor Estel Williams and Mike Berry officiating. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at NHC of Johnson City for their special care and love for Mrs. Blalock during her illness.
