~11 Dec 1897 · Page 8

By the death of Andrew Baker at his residence in Enterprise Monday, December 6, Linn county lost another of her oldest citizens, a pioneer who helped subdue what was once a part of the wilderness of North Missouri.

Mr. Baker was one of the earliest settlers of Baker township, having built his cabin and commenced his clearing in the heavily timbered portion of that township near the banks of East Yellow creek, in 1843. He at one time owned a large body of land in Baker township upon which he lived for nearly a half century but removed to Enterprise a few years ago, where he has since resided.

He was a native of Kentucky and first came to Chariton county where he lived for some years before coming to Linn. His funeral took place Tuesday and the body of the old pioneer sleeps in Baker cemetery near his old home in Baker Township.
