Author and Lawyer as well as a graduate of the United States Military Academy. He became a 2nd Lieutenant in 1815, but resigned the following year to attend law school. He graduated law school in 1822 but never took up the practice. He became an author in his mid thirties publishing such novels as "The Prospects of Disunion," "Government and Currency," "Economical Causes of Slavery," Obstacles to Abolition as well as many others.
