She was the daughter of J. W. and Margaret Ann (Walker) Hamilton and married James Ernest "Beanie" Owen.

Her Obituary:

Mrs. Bettie Hamilton Owen, aged 67 years, died at The Lincoln County Hospital Sunday morning, December 23, 1951. She had been in declining health for some time and critically ill for about two months. Her parents were the late James W. and Margaret Ann Walker Hamilton and she was born in the Lee's Creek vicinity. She was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Fayetteville and was active in the church work as long as her health permitted. The funeral services will be held at the church Monday morning at 10:30 o'clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. Cordia Womack, and he will be assisted by Rev. D. D. Smothers, Pastor of the Fayetteville Baptist Church. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. She is survived by her husband, James Ernest Owen; one daughter, Mrs. E. L. Byers of Detroit, Michigan; two sons, Joe Ernest Owen of Fayetteville and Thomas Owen, with the U. S. Navy and located at the Wright Patterson Field, Dayton, Ohio; three brothers, Mr. Kupedella Hamilton of Huntsville, Alabama, and Messrs. Milton and Frank Hamilton, both of Fayetteville; four sisters, Mrs. George Noles of Decherd, Mrs. Sallie Grant of Decherd, Mrs. Myrtle Solomon of Harms, and Mrs. George Warren of Decatur, Alabama; and three grandsons.
