Born in Charlotte, Mr. Norton was the son of Frances Moore Norton and the late John Lee Norton, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Heather Marie. He was a US Army veteran, serving three tours in the Vietnam War with the First Calvary Division, graduated from Holbrook High School and attended Gaston College.
In addition to his mother, survivors include his son, Paul Norton; daughter, Renna Messer; brother, Johnny Norton; grandsons, Collin and Caleb Norton; all of Gastonia; and brother, George "Butch" Terry of Belmont.
Memorial services will be at a later date.
