David was born to William "Moses" Fischl and Jenna Fruma "Flora" Gitsky on November 22, 1926, in New York City. He was the fifth of six children, and grew up in the Bronx.

When David was sixteen years old the family moved to Oregon where there was work to be had in the shipyards aiding the war effort. He enlisted in the Army in 1945, but didn't see active duty. It was here, at the age of nineteen, that he met and married June Elizabeth Carpenter on May 23, 1945 in Portland, Oregon. They met while at a dance. From this union he fathered one daughter, Cheryl Lee Fischl. They seperated shortly after the birth of the baby, and mother and child returned to the mother's home state of Oklahoma. They divorced September 6, 1947.

David was married four more times. The exact order is not known but is being researched. He married Blanche McAllister in Oct 1953. He married Marion Mather, at which time he changed his last name to hers. Changing his last name was a business related decision. They both both worked for Miracle Ear, and they operated a hearing aide business together where his business encompassed five states with around 80 employees. This venture was very successful. While together, he helped her raise her three small sons. His last wife was Elaine Segret Moore. During their marriage they operated a hospital supply and hearing aid business together. This was also a successful business. His fifth wife's name is unknown, and where she stands in this list is unknown, but it is understood that it was brief, also ending in divorce. None of these unions produced more children.

The last twenty two years were spent with his life partner, Evelyn Gomez, of the home at the time of his death. They spent many happy hours at one of their favorite pastimes, dancing. He also liked to fish and hunt.

David was preceded in death by his parents: William and Flora Fischl; three brothers: Benjamin Frederick, Seymour and Harold; and one sister, Anna Lillian Renfrow. Two great-grandchildren also preceded him: Kenndall Don Moore and Alexis Rose Jones-Moore. He leaves behind his life partner, Evelyn Gomez of the home; daughter Cheryl Moore of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandchildren; Karla Dawn Gifford of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and James Don Moore of Claremore, Oklahoma; eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren with a third due in 2013.

His remains are being handled by the Desert Memorial Cremation & Burial Society in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is to be cremated.
