Hazel McKenna (83) passed away at home on November 20, 2012. She was born October 13, 1929 on a farm in DeKalb, Texas to Frank and Opal Romans. She relocated to California in 1948. She married Daniel McKenna on April 25, 1959, and they were blessed with three sons. She worked for General Telephone and Lucky Stores, but she was best known for her homemaking skills. Her homes were always immaculate and beautifully decorated. After living in various cities, she settled in Hermosa Beach, California after retirement. She was an active Altar Society member at American Martyrs Church. Hazel is preceded in death by her son, Michael, sisters, Christine and Edith and brother, Gene. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Daniel; sons, Mark (Kathy) and Don (Edna); five grandchildren, Casey, Michael, Kayla, Lauren and Kristen and sister, Frances Kolding. A viewing will be held at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance on Thursday, November 29 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm with a Rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral Mass will be held at American Martyrs Church, 624 15th Street, Manhattan Beach on Friday, November 30 at 10:00 am, followed by a graveside service at Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City.
