Lena was born in Imsbach, Germany and came to the US when she was 16. She first settled in Santa Clara, California and moved to Oregon in 1872 where she remained until her death at age 72. Lena was a 50 year resident of the city of Portland. She and her husband Albert, who predeceased her, were the parents of eight children. Their four sons were George A., Walter J, Theodore C. and Henry E. Albert, all of Portland. Their four daughters were Mrs. W.C. Cloyes, Portland, Mrs. C. Zauner, Westport, Washington, Mrs. A.J. Collins, Los Angeles, California and Mrs. W.H. Clubb, Ronan, Montana.
