RICHARDSON, Jr., Vernon
age 82 of Fairfield Township went to be with his Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday November 24, 2012. He was born December 14, 1929 in Madison County, Kentucky to Mamie (Miller) and Vernon Richardson, Sr. Vernon received the Golden Glove Award in boxing in his early years. He served in the U. S. Marines during the Korean War. He worked for many years at French Bauer Dairy before beginning his career at Lebanon Correctional Institution. While at Lebanon he worked his way from a Corrections Officer to a Captain, and was the sharp shooter on the SWAT Team. He received an award from the state of Ohio for his excellent skills at marksmanship. He was co-owner of R&K Bail Bonds. He loved being active and played in the 70 Plus Softball League for 12 years. Vernon was a member of the Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene where he was actively involved. He loved his church, God and his family dearly and they were always his top priority. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Ernest and James, and sisters Opal Lamb, Geneva Ditamso, and Jean Gray. Vernon is survived by his wife of 62 years, Catherine (Chaney) Richardson; two children Rita Hoskins and Mark (Lynn) Richardson; five grandchildren Anna Hoskins, Daniel Richardson, Leigh Hoskins, Tim Hoskins, and Jenay Richardson; eight great grandchildren Haleigh, Brendon, Mikey, Maleiah, Bryson, Teddy, William, and Lilith. He is also survived by three brothers Donald Richardson, Roy (Imogene) Richardson, and Lester (Cletha) Richardson; four sisters Alean Lathery, Ruby Hamilton, Mary (Jimmy) Black, and Carol (Chuck) Henley; sister in law Geneva Richardson, many nieces and nephews and special friends Cliff and Joan Kerr. Visitation at the Tuley Road Church of the Nazarene, 1815 Tuley Road on Wednesday November 28, 2012 from 10:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 PM, with Pastor Randy Sapp, officiating. Burial to follow with full military honors in Butler County Memorial Park. THE WEBSTER FUNERAL HOME 3080 Homeward Way at Rt. 4, Fairfield is serving the family.
