Wayne was born in Spokane, Washington, January 28, 1940 and was adopted at 6 or 7 months of age by Rex A. and Rosa A. (Lahr) Mooney.
The family lived in Coeur d'Alene until 1948 when they moved to Dalton Gardens where they had a small dairy farm. Wayne grew up helping his dad on the farm and as he got older working in the woods logging with his dad. He attended Coeur d'Alene High School.
In his 20's Wayne drove ambulance as EMT for two years before enlisting in the U.S. Navy where he served as medical corpsman with a Marine Corp. unit in the Korean War.
After returning home, Wayne married Judy L. Marsh in Mar. 22, 1962. They had one son, Michael P. Mooney born July 3, 1962. They lived in Pine Creek, Id. where Wayne worked logging for Ken Kurlymayer. Later he worked at Bunker Hill Mine at Kellogg, Id. Wayne and Judy divorce and Wayne moved to Seattle in 1967.
Wayne first worked at Boeing and during that time married Linda J. Dunnick. They had three children, Wayne T Mooney Jr. of New York, Robert B. Mooney of New South Wales, Australia, Pamela R. (Mooney) Linden of Issaquah, WA, and adopted son Ahmad S. Mooney of California.
Wayne and Linda divorced in 1980. Wayne married Dorothy D. (Weir) Bateham October 9, 1981 and acquired several stepsons, Dan P. Bateham, & Tina of Pt. Angeles, WA, Dale T. Bateham of Arizona, Bill J. Weir of North Carolina, and Joe A. Bateham, deceased. He also acquired unofficially adopted children Pamela G. Wood of Monroe, WA. and Jim T. Swanton of Oroville, WA. Later Wayne and Dorothy added daughters Sue C. Mooney of Dalton Gardens, Tina and Brad Hull, and son Phil and Bonney Ballew to their family.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Rex and Rosa Mooney and stepson Joe Bateham.
Wayne is survived by his wife Dorothy and the above named children, twenty two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, five great - great grandchildren and myriad nieces and nephews, all dearly loved.
Services are planned for Thursday November 1, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at the Yates Funeral Home Hayden Chapel, 373 E. Hayden Ave, Hayden, ID with a visitation scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
There will be graveside services at Coeur d'Alene Memorial Gardens following the Chapel Services.
