Leo H. Weih, 83, of rural Wilton, passed away, Monday, August 16, 1993, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 18, at Lacock-Bentley Funeral Home in Durant and from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 19, at Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett. Memorials may be made to the Durant Ambulance or Peace Church of Christ United in his memory.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 19, at Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett, with Rev. Linda Myren officiating. Organist is Pat Barglof and Henry Bentley the soloist. Leo's band, Our Jolly Friends, will provide special musical selections. Pallbearers are Ray Arp, Ronald Weih, Kevin Bland, Ed Grau, Albert Garrels and Gene Compton. Honorary pallbearers are Ray Gehrls, Joey Gehrls and Charles Wulf. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.

Leo Harold Weih was born April 29, 1910, in Cedar County, the son of John and Alvena (Laschenzky) Weih. He received his education in the Cedar County schools. He married Minnie Anna Arp on February 26, 1938, in Davenport. Together the couple farmed near Sunbury, until they retired in 1975 and moved to a country home near Wilton. After retirement, he drove a school bus for the Durant School System and sold seed corn for Northrup King. He also played drums in the band, Our Jolly Friends, who performed for the last ten years at area senior citizens meal sites and nursing homes. His favorite motto was, "Yesterday was good, today is great and tomorrow will be better." He was a member of Peace Church of Christ United in Bennett.

Surviving are his wife, Minnie; two daughters, Lorna (Richard) Pahl of Wilton and Ludalle (Greg) Meyer of Wheaton, IL; one son, Lenis Weih of Clinton; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and one sister-in-law, Elta Weih of Durant.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Veneta Hansen and two brothers, Ralph and Harvey Weih.
