George Halvor Lake, a man of great compassion, returned to his Heavenly Father on November 17, 2012.

He was born to William Bailey and Sarah Emma Carroll Lake on July 18, 1924 in Blanding, Utah.

The youngest of 10 children, he spent most of his childhood in Oakley.

He enlisted in the Marines and was with the first replacements at Pearl Harbor after the bombing.

After being honorably discharged, he met Aileen Taylor.

They were married on February 5, 1946 in Ogden and were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple in 1952.

They welcomed three children to their home: Jolene Marie, Connie Jean, and Brent Halvor.

They were also blessed to meet a boy who needed a job named Douglas Walker.

Not only did they give him a job;

they also welcomed him into the family.

George was well known in the business world as a true entrepreneur.

He owned and operated a variety of automotive businesses.

His continued compassion was evident as he provided many struggling families with money or free vehicles.

George had a deep love of horses and a special gift for training them.

He participated in several equestrian events including the Ute Ranger Riding Club.

He and Aileen were great supporters of their grandchildren and loved attending their sporting events and musical performances.

George had a deep testimony of the Lord.

He and Aileen served as missionaries in the Salt Lake Inner City Mission and as service missionaries at Temple Square.

George is survived by his wife Aileen and by their children Jolene (Charles) Rice, Connie (Tim) Allen, Brent (Sheri) and Doug Walker.

He is the proud grandfather of 9 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
