She was married to Joseph R. Carpenter on February 26th, 1869. To them were born two children, Marie and Paul F. In November, 1897, they moved to Oklahoma. She united with the M. E. Church South in Missouri, in 1896. When she moved to Stroud at that time there being no M. E. Church South, she united with the Presbyterian Church. In both these fellowships she was ever loyal and faithful. Besides a multitude of friends, she leaves to mourn her loss a husband and son, three brothers, two sisters and a father whose age is 83 years.

The funeral service was conducted by Rev. W.B. Logan from the family home in the presence of a large assembly of friends. The pall bearers were: Mrs. F. E. Mason, Mrs. W. G. Pardoe, Mrs. Albert Rhodes, Mrs. J.F.D. Walker, Mrs. E.E. Lumm and Mrs. Lula B. Evans.

Mrs. Carpenter was an excellent lad devoted wife and fond mother. Her friends were simply numbered by her acquaintances. The floral offerings were profuse and of the most beautiful flowers.

The body was laid to rest by tender hands in the Stroud cemetery.

The entire town and community mourn the loss of this good woman and extend profound sympathy to the bereaved ones."
